Ledges and Bones dance project mission statement
ledges and bones dance project is a collection of diverse artist creating an ongoing laboratory for the development of original choreography.

Our process focuses on the exploration of hyper-physical movement, personal risk and communication through the visceral experience. We are passionate about making dances that stimulate, challenge and inspire us to experience the human condition through the sensations of the body.

We are dedicated to the liberated body, the uncensored voice and to making dance from off the ledge.

ledges and bones dance project offers public performances, workshops and
movement classes throughout the United States.

artist statement
Holly Johnston

My work is a form of abstract narrative expressing the complex absurdities of the human condition.

I chase the fleeting moments interwining the intersections between audience and artist, when we simultaneously feel both limitless phisical potential and exposed emotional vulnerability.

I am dedicated to the rigorous process that enable us to pursue making work of distinctive exceleence. Aided by my relentless drive for movement invention, I work to cultivate an idiosyncratic movement language that is distinctive to leges and bones dance project, to each individual work and hoping always to devour the delicious futility of live performance.

I believe our bodies expose poetic truth as home for the molecular history of our experiences. In our deeply investigate process, our choreography realizes itself through demanding physical training, extensive improvisation & repetition. We work in high velocity physicality for its challenge on the nervous system becoming a responsive primal being rather that an intellectual observer of physical action. We also explore high-risk partnering as a vehicle towards trust and intimicy, gaining greater confidence in connected relationship with each other and in all aspect of our lives.

It is in the glory of the human striving to become a greater person then they ever believed themselves to be,
that I find the deepest beauty.
